While I think it is important to be competitive, the way in which these students bring down their fellow peers does not promote healthy competition. However, the atmosphere was constricting, cold, hyper-competitive, and offered little support. It's interesting to read of others' experiences with Marlborough and, of course, everyone's experience is her own, but I have found this school to be a tremendously welcoming place. There is no room for differing views...and the new teachers recruited are almost encouraged to brainwash the girls into believing that only the ultra liberal POV is worth expressing, both verbally and in any assignment. Marlborough is a diverse, supportive and dynamic high school. I work in LA and I've had coworkers/clients who ask where I went to high school are always impressed by the Marlborough name. I found that there was a lot of competition on campus, something that I wanted but something that may not work for everyone. Due to the individual learning difficulties of the students a lot of paper work and admin has to be filled out for anything and as a result new proposals and changes can take a lot of work and a lot of time to come through.
